You do realize that Apple simply follows what Linux user build and use and also what ideas that software and hardware engineers have already come up with years ago. Nothing is original just a bunch of ideas that have been constantly recycled over the years not being used due to the factor of budgets and expensive technology. These ideas are then used when those ideas are cheap enough to be brought into the consumer market or until they gain a wide popularity by the masses.
By the way the main feature of OSX is that you can dual boot Windows XP and Vista. You could do that with a custom built PC when Windows XP first came out. But then again I am nitpicking here.

You obviously haven't used either of these os's. Windows PC's are as good as you pay for them. Mac's are rediculously priced for what you can get on a PC for a fraction of the price. Also, Vista sucked. absolutely horrible OS. It crashed all the time, and generally didn't work, but 7 is 100 times better, not to mention XP which is by far the most popular and stable OS for YEARS! now 7 is out and is even more stable than xp. it's absolutely fantastic. you are ignorant.

Uh... where did you get that idea from? The clock speed of my netbook is twice as fast as the iPad's. The only reason it might seem to run slower is when it does that thing... what's it called again? oh yes, MULTITASKING. The reason Apple don't do multitasking is so it doesn't look like its running slowly with its fairly average processor. Which is fine until you decide running more than one thing at once might be more useful than looking flash.

You make wonderful points....but do you realize that you're paying $500 for an overgrown ipod touch and then more $$ for "extra" peripherals that come with netbooks within their full price?
I know, I know. The ipad isn't the same thing as a netbook....but I think the problem here, is that people are EXPECTING the ipad to BE like a netbook and are disappointed. Besides the whole mac vs. pc thing.
SJ is releasing products w/o finishing them and people are STILL buying them! That just shows how sheep-like his groupies are! Why do you think mac followers get so much crap?! Yes, some apple products are OK. I myself have an old gen of the ipod nano. But, personally, when I'm told to wait for a feature that is on almost every other comparable piece of technology today to be on the next gen of this shiny new product (ex: webcam)....nuh-uh. Now we have a problem.
I mean, you're paying $500 and then at least $30 for each extra peripheral which you would get each of with a cheap netbook. The picture says it all. It really isn't lying. You have to look at what you're getting for your money.
The only uses I can see for the ipad is listening to music, surfing the internet, reading ebooks, and using it as a calander....I'm not sure that just that is worth $500...
And did you even READ the other comments?? The ipad is NOT WIDESCREEN! I can't believe I'm having to repeat what others have already said! The ipad is a 4:3 ratio. For it to be widescreen it has to be 16:9. Therefore, the ipad IS NOT WIDESCREEN. Holy crap!
And why should we have to wait for a next gen version? Someone has again already said this, but generally, companies attempt to make a product the best it can be before releasing it. The fact that us consumers are told to wait for future generations before we got what we REALLY want, just goes to show that SJ wants as much $$ as possible. I'm not sure I'm cool with that.

If the iPad screen is bigger than the netbook screen then it is better whether or not it is widescreen.
Some things that may or may not justify the iPad for any given person: App store with hundreds of cheap/free games, longer than three-five hour battery life, will soon have multitasking, do you really need expandable memory on an up to 64 GB iPad?, (relatively) cheap unlimited 3G plan, and you can get a physical keyboard if you absolutely NEED one.

AT&T coverage sucks - had it and paid more money to switch my AT&T number to may main verizion account. I think Steve Jobs is an elitist ass and I don't care about him or his hero worship.

"Card reader- Can be bought for the ipad.
Usb and other outtakes- Can soon be bought for the ipad.
Video out-Can be bought soon"
Here's the flaw - You can BUY it soon. Why aren't these very important computer aspects lacking from the start? It's ridiculous, if I bought a $500 laptop, or for a decent amount of storage space $700, and it lacked any of these I'd be pissed. But since it's just meant to be a tablet that's okay then. With that kind of money you may as well just be buying a new laptop. I would pay $250, $300 for an iPad at most.
"Flash- Flash is more keyboard-mouse-screen oriented so it woulndt work out on an ipad, dont like it? F*ck off. If your not planning on geting an ipad then dont bother to comment on them. "
I can comment why I'm not buying an iPad and why I agree with the picture. I don't understand why people have to get up and arms over this. Why are you so angry over Steve Jobs product? Second of all, for a product which advertises free internet roam it lacks support for one of the most vital programs on the internet. There's actually entire sites that don't work on it as a result. Sure, the lack of a mouse might screw with a few games, but it's okay, you can pay extra for those in the app store because there's no such thing as a free lunch.
I think the best thing to ask is why should you be paying so much for something that lacks so much? Because this is Apple's business plan - release an incomplete product and overcharge for it, then get everyone to buy the upgrade which includes fundamental features that should have been released in the first place.

Correct, if I don't like it don't buy it, and I shant. But PC isn't a company, mind you, it's a form factor if anything, but it's not even that. PC's never try anything new? So then why are there numerous takes on the entire operating system UI by literally thousands of different companies and entities? Why are all the major leaps in technologies generaly on PC first? Why are they completely customizeable, from hardware to software?
Because PC's are an idea, not a brand. It's not controlled, you can do whatever you want with them, and you can do it well. The only reason it couldn't inspire you is because you're being ignorant to the amazing world of inovation that is the non-proprietary market.
It's no missing link, it's not something that hasn't been done before, it's not a new idea, and it's certainly not a leap in technology. What it IS, is a neat little package that people seem to be fond of; good for Apple. But this certainly doesn't warrant a higher price tag, nor any sort of praise. "Hey look at this! We took a product that's been around for years and got rid of almost everything useful about it! Definately worth more money!"
To be honest I'm not entirely sure what the iPad is supposed to be good at? Reading eBooks? It doesn't seem to excel anywhere. Also you can get a touchscreen netbook for less than an iPad, so you can tick the last one off too.
People need to stop seeing Apple products as something different to the rest of the market, because they're not. They're just another company, putting out a device to sell that only vaugely differs from it's opponents. Now, Apples marketing devision, they deserve a pat on the back...

Who ever did this obviously has never actully had the chance to touch or even have an ipad.
Physical Keyboard? The whole point of an ipad is for it to be a tablet. Thereofore no keyboard, if you dont like it then dont get an ipad. (Theres also keyboards to buy for the ipad.)
Widescreen- If you turn the ipad it does have a wide screen, not a big one but its called wide screen cause its wider than it is tall.
Webcam- Wait until the next generation of ipads.
Card reader- Can be bought for the ipad.
Usb and other outtakes- Can soon be bought for the ipad.
Removable battery- Who the F*ck would need a removable battery, being able to remove the battery by your self had no use what so ever. if the battery breaks then just give to an apple store and they'll fix it up.
Flash-
Flash is more keyboard-mouse-screen oriented so it woulndt work out on an ipad, dont like it? F*ck off. If your not planning on geting an ipad then dont bother to comment on them.
Video out-
Can be bought soon
Open platform-
Just wait until some one jailbreaks it, should be in a week or two at most.
Multi tasking-
Depends on what app your talking about, some apps allow it some dont.
Storage-
Dipshit, 16gigs is the lowest one, 64 gigs is the biggest one. 64 gigs is enough cause ipads are still not a replacement for your computers.
Price-
its 700us for a 64 gig one, they are far more powerfull then a netbook.
Its so much more entertaining in everyway to have an ipad than to have a netbook, who ever made this picture is a dip-shit and needs to get his info straight. If your not planning on getting an ipad then dont comment on it.

I'm sure the iPad is good for what it was designed for, much as the netbook and other tablet PCs are good for what they were designed for. When trying to compare Apples to Oranges (pun intended), why not concentrate on how you, the end user, will use it? Want to play flash animation? Apple iPad..you lose. Want to multi task? iPad loses again. Want to use multi-touch features? Netbook...you lose. Want to read ebooks? It's a tie...although the iPad has a slight advantage with a certain comfort level of how you hold the device as you read. The point is, there are markets for both devices. Personally though, I would choose the netbook since it would accomplish most of what I would want the iPad to do, and then some. Apple fanboys will probably piss and moan at what I've said, but I don't care because this isn't a PC vs. Mac argument. It's a "what I would want compared to what each device can offer" argument. In this case, iPad loses. For you it may win.

Hello happy nutcase.
All your argument lacks is a coherant argument. Yes there are millions of macs, ipods, iphones, and soon to be ipads. And Yes you are right they have all overheated and melted, all over the world. I know what is wrong with you and its like penis-envy only its apple-envy. Every time apple announce something thats a paradigm shift PC jockies like yourself cant stand to believe your crowd did not invent it first. You guys are always following apples lead and always will be. So get back behind us in the cool stakes and the works without crashing stakes and the distinct lack of virus program stakes and also in the last but by no means the least, Apple gets free advertising all the time just by being better stakes. I am sure if your netbook hit the ground it might shatter as well by the way. The keyboard is a virtual one that works with, Hold on, wait for it, the touch screen. Phew nearly missed that. Your argument is trite and smacks of petulance and childishness.
Hey PC make a good argument for a change.
PS windows 7 is very cool. Just as good as OSX. Keep up the good work microsoft.

Maybe a little off-topic, but this is where I lose most of my respect for you. Many times games can be used for socializing, playing with friends or relative, not just a stereotypical nerd/geek who lives in his basement and does nothing but play. Although I do agree that some people get way to serious about them.

UI and UX hmm fancy names and marketing to make you feel like you are getting a better deal. Easy to use - not really... Fun to use - for about 5 minutes or until you want to type something simply (or decide to play a flash game). Plus there is one fatal flaw with ALL mac products, from the IShuffle nano to the Desktop versions. They overheat, because of the desire mac has to make everything look all cute and compact, there is very poor ventilation no matter what you do, so it'll overheat and melt the internal components making it a useless waste of a lot of money. Also, heaven forbid it slips from your fingers and hits the ground, because then the motherboard will shatter and again turn your toy into a useless waste of money. If I had the money to spend, I'd buy a net-book and enjoy the simplicity, the power, and the durability of it.
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 03/15/2010 - 20:43.
I agree, the iPad isn't worth buying yet. I'm hoping that they improve upon it soon because I wouldn't mind having one as an eBook reader. Kindle sucks hardcore in that department.
I do, however, love Mac OSX. I have an iMac 24in model and a 13in MacBook Pro. I am a graphic designer and nothing else on the market compares. Macs are standard with the graphical arts and to argue with the fact that they are superior in this area just shows your own ignorance.
However, Macs are not necessarily better for the mainstream. If all you want to do is dick around on Facebook and use Microsoft Word then yeah, get a low price PC/netbook or something better suited to somebody who isn't doing anything on the computer that requires a functional and efficient use of RAM. *deep breath*
I would never go back to Windows because it doesn't run the Adobe Creative Suite properly.
PCs and Macs have their places.
Oh, and if your main argument against Apple computers is that they don't support your favorite game I have no respect for your opinion anyway because you're a shut-in with no friends.

The Ipad is good for what it does, it is better than a standard tablet ebook reader but not quite a netbook. Even though it's features bring it very close to a netbook it's just not quite there IMO. I am no Apple fanboy or PC hardcore geek, I have used and still use both for various different tasks as they are both great for doing different things.
If you don't like it don't buy it, I'm sure SJ won't be crying if you don't buy one, as others have said on here there is a swathe of Apple fanboys/girls that will buy it because its Apple and its new!

lets suppose your netbook runs a flavour of linux - well then the ui would be far more advanced than anything apple has given us, and infinitely customizable. a netbook is much easier to use since it has a keyboard and is like any other computer that people are used to, where as the pad is at first less intuative. fun to use? ill give you that. until you realise that it has no advantages. infact a netbook running android will probably be just as fun.

Now, Apples marketing devision, they deserve a pat on the back...
i like how you said all of
i like how you said all of those things CAN BE BOUGHT for the ipad (cranking up the price quite a bit) but come bundled in with the netbook
go back to bed apple fanboy
Who ever did this obviously
I'm sure the iPad is good
I'm sure the iPad is good for what it was designed for, much as the netbook and other tablet PCs are good for what they were designed for.
All
Hello happy nutcase.
Look, if you don't like it
Look, if you don't like it don't buy it. I personally love my mac. I wish I could up grade but it does everything I need and Apple inspires me. Which is more than I can say for any PC product. PC never tries anything new. And the fact that you are comparing a netbook to an ipad is ridiculous because the ipad isn't a computer. It's the missing link. So of course it doesn't have everything a computer has. It's not supposed to.
bullshit and chips much?
bullshit and chips much? ipad does have usb ports, how the hell r u supposed to sync it with ur pc or w/e if it didnt
Who cares... buy it or don't
Who cares... buy it or don't
I wrote this on my eee pc.

"Oh, and if your main
"Oh, and if your main argument against Apple computers is that they don't support your favorite game I have no respect for your opinion anyway because you're a shut-in with no friends."
Maybe a little off-topic, but this is where I lose most of my respect for you. Many times games can be used for socializing, playing with friends or relative, not just a stereotypical nerd/geek who lives in his basement and does nothing but play. Although I do agree that some people get way to serious about them.
UI and UX hmm fancy names
I agree, the iPad isn't
Peace.
Why do you all keep saying
Why do you all keep saying it's widescreen when turned sideways. Did you not look up the aspect ratio of the ipad? when turned sideways it is approx. the size of an--- WAIT WHY AM I SAYING THIS?!?! FOUR OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMMENTED ALREADY ON SIZE AND/OR RATIO AND PROVEN IT IS NOT WIDESCREEN!!! READ WHAT OTHERS POST BEFORE YOU TELL THEM THEY ARE WRONG!!! GAAHHHHH!!!
Why are you all talking
Why are you all talking about no flash support as if its a bad thing??? Flash is the worst thing to happen to the internet since its conception! http5 will pretty much enable us to completely get rid of flash! Thank Jah!!!!
Just my 10p
lets suppose your netbook
lets suppose your netbook runs a flavour of linux - well then the ui would be far more advanced than anything apple has given us, and infinitely customizable. a netbook is much easier to use since it has a keyboard and is like any other computer that people are used to, where as the pad is at first less intuative. fun to use? ill give you that. until you realise that it has no advantages. infact a netbook running android will probably be just as fun.
Yeah but...nothing.
